Gale Ranch and The Bridges

Situated on the east side of San Ramon, close to the Danville border and adjacent to Windemere, Gale Ranch and The Bridges are prime examples of quality home-building in the San Francisco East Bay.
The residential development of Gale Ranch began in the early 1990s with the construction of Portola at Gale Ranch. Now, there are five Gale Ranch communities together with another five at The Bridges, all set in a delightful environment including the acclaimed 73-par Bridges Golf Course (pictured below) designed by Johnny Miller. Coyote Creek Elementary School is also here, the first school in Gale Ranch, which is getting rave reviews by parents and children alike.
 The latest addition here is The Plaza At Gale Ranch, a new shopping center at the corner of Dougherty and Bollinger Canyon Road in the heart of Gale Ranch. Anchored by the super-modern Safeway (their new flagship store for the area), when fully occupied, this will provide a large selection of retail facilities with shops, restaurants and more. Safeway also has a gas station which has probably the lowest gas prices in the area, even without using your Safeway Club Card, which gets you additional savings.
This Safeway store is the most upmarket Safeway you are likely to find and it is enormous. Almost half the store is devoted to ready to eat food, both hot and cold, and a notable addition is a sit-down Sushi Bar. There is also the ubiquitous Starbucks but here, it has been located in it's own separate annex, almost like a real Starbucks coffee shop.
Peets coffee lovers will be pleased to note that Peets also have their own coffee shop at The Plaza At Gale Ranch.
In addition to the above, there are a number of other shopping centers close by including the award-winning Shops at Blackhawk (pictured below right) with its upscale restaurants and multi-screen cinema. This is currently under some redevelopment with the promise of additional shops and restaurants there before the end of the year. San Ramon's new Dougherty Library and Theater is just a few minutes away in Windemere and downtown Danville is only a short drive.
 These are exciting times in San Ramon and Danville and there is much development taking place here, both retail and residential. Gale Ranch and Windemere continue to grow and San Ramon is to have a new downtown that is planned to be completed in the next few years. Danville has various new retail developments in the works and there are a number of new schools in the area that are fast building enviable reputations.
